How to Edit .htaccess File in the cPanel - File Manager

 

1. Log in your cPanel account.

 

2. In the Files section, click on File Manager.

 

3. Find the directory where your ".htaccess" file is located. To edit the .htaccess file of your root directory, navigate to the public_html directory.


4. If you can't locate the .htaccess file, access the File Manager's Settings. Look for the Settings button on the right-hand side of the top menu. Check the option "Show Hidden Files (Dotfiles)" in the newly opened window and save the changes. Now you should be able to find the .htaccess file. If it doesn't exist, you can create a new one.

 

5. Right-click on the dot htaccess file and then Edit in the Context Menu.





6. In a new window box, click on Edit.

 

7. As a last step, please make changes to your .htaccess file and click on Save Changes.
